Yes, the eyes give it away (as well as our crap Beatles reference). It is indeed Sir Paul McCartney, in full get-up for his huge role as ‘Jail Guard 2’ in the latest Pirates of the Caribbean flick, Dead Men Tell No Tales.

He’s not the first 1960s superstar rocker to hit the high seas (or high Cs) with Jack Sparrow and his crew, of course, with Keith Richards having previously appeared as Sparrow’s dad.

Richards doesn’t appear to be back for this fifth instalment, but imagine getting the likes of The Kinks’ Ray Davies and The Who’s Pete Townshend in for future episodes – assuming that co-director Joachim Rønning’s hints at there being a planned Pirates adventure beyond this apparent “final” one. Bring back Macca and Keef with that pair and you’d have one heck of a rocking sea shanty time. Hey, why not grab Ringo too? He knows all about sea stuff with the likes of Yellow Submarine and Octopus’ Garden – and the pirates could use some peace and love, peace and love…
