Ridley Scott is developing a feature on the Battle of Britain for 20th Century Fox.

The film is a passion project for the director and is still in the early stages, however we do know that it will be written by Matthew Orton and executive produced by Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies). The British Royal Air Force’s strategic victory over the Luftwaffe during the summer of 1940 was previously told on the big screen in the 1969 classic Battle of Britain, starring Michael Caine and Trevor Howard.

World War II films featuring the British are currently experiencing a major revival with Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, Joe Wright’s Darkest Hour and Jonathan Teplitzky’s Churchill all due in cinemas this year.
