First Man, the Neil Armstrong biopic that will reunite the Oscar-winning La La Land team of Ryan Gosling and Damien Chazelle, is set for an October 2018 release.

According to Variety, the film will open in the US on October 12 next year, positioning it perfectly for the 2019 awards season.

The biopic of the legendary astronaut is based on James Hansen’s book First Man: The Life Of Neil A. Armstrong and tells the story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon. The film is described as a first-person account that will explore the sacrifices and the cost — on Armstrong and on America — of one of the most dangerous space missions in history.

Chazelle and Gosling will also serve as producers on First Man, which is being written by Josh Singer, who won an Oscar for his script for another true story Spotlight.
