Taking its cues from the Book of Revelation, this diabolical 1976 classic had parents checking their kids for a 666 birthmark. It also pioneered the ‘creative death scene’, which Final Destination turned into a franchise. And then of course there’s Jerry Goldsmith’s ominous, Oscar-winning score – adapted from a Latin Black Mass. Directed with consummate style by Richard Donner and featuring some respectable star power, The Omen is quintessential ’70s horror.
