Alexandre Aja’s update of the 1977 Wes Craven classic The Hills Have Eyes is one of those rare horror remakes that’s actually worth your time. The story remains the same – suburban American family runs afoul of mutant cannibal clan in the desert – and the big set pieces are faithfully restaged, albeit with some cool enhancements. It might lack the low budget grit of the original, but it’s every bit as relentless, brutal and scary.
