If you’re a fan of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and/or The Hobbit movie trilogies, then be excited.

Why? Well, both trilogies – featuring the extended and theatrical versions – are set to hit 4K Ultra HD on December 2.

Long rumoured, the confirmation came via Samwise Gamgee himself, Sean Astin, in a video posted to YouTube. More specifically, this one:

It’s believed that Jackson has gone to town on remastering all six movies, bringing them to native 4K with Dolby Atmos sound. We can’t wait to find out more…
