Better Call Saul is back in April – and the new season will feature one very familiar face from Breaking Bad.
The third series will premiere in the US on AMC on April 10 and if previous seasons are anything to go by, the show will be broadcast at roughly the same time here.
Better Call Saul follows the early career of Breaking Bad’s crooked lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) – although in this show, he is still using his real name of Jimmy McGill – and his enforcer Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks). In the new season, Jimmy’s faltering moral compass and his troubled relationship with his brother Chuck (Michael McKean) places further pressure on his partnership – both personal and professional – with lawyer Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn). Mike, meanwhile, attempts to track down a mysterious adversary who seems to know almost everything about his business.
The new season will also see the first appearance from another key character from Breaking Bad, drug king and chicken takeaway franchise boss Gustavo Fring, whose return was first teased in the promo below.
Giancarlo Esposito has enjoyed reprising his character for Better Call Saul. “He’s a different guy,” Esposito explains. “He’s a little fresher, a little less jaded. The time period alone takes us to a time where his look may be little bit different. I wanted him to be little more hopeful, a little more energetic, maybe not as definitive in some of his actions because he’s a Gus that we’ve never met before.”
