Bobby Cannavale, whose TV credits include Vinyl and Boardwalk Empire, is joining Mr Robot for its third season.
Shooting begins next month on the series 3 of the computer hacking thriller, with the latest instalment due to premiere in the US in October.
Cannavale will play Irving, who is described as “a laconic, no-nonsense used car salesman”. At this stage, few details have been provide about the new season’s storylines, but fans can expect to learn more about Whiterose, the leader of the Chinese-based hacking organization the Dark Army, with BD Wong being upped to series regular this time around.
Picking up immediately following the Season 2 cliffhanger, the third series will delve deeper into the disintegrating relationship between Elliot (Rami Malek) and Mr. Robot (Christian Slater). As well as Cannavale and Wong, other series regulars due to return include Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin, Martin Wallström and Grace Gummer.
