It’s 50 years since Roald Dahl adaptation Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory hit cinema screens and wonderfully weirded out audiences the world over.

As part of celebrations, it’s coming to 4K Ultra HD, and is set to pop from our screens with an HDR-enhanced, native 4K transfer, too. Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory on 4K Ultra HD is slated for an August 4 Australian release, in a wild limited edition gift set that includes a 32-page book, art cards, a two-sided theatrical poster and, most excitingly (well, if it gave us what the movie one did) a golden ticket. Pre-order now at JB Hi-Fi.

As another part of celebrations, four of the surviving cast members of the movie – Peter Ostrum (Charlie), Julie Dawn Cole (Veruca Salt), Paris Themmen (Mike Teevee) and Michael Bollner (Augustus Gloop) – recently got together for a Zoom yap, and it’s well worth tuning into, which you can do right here:
