Four friends from college – Ryan (Regina Hall), Sasha (Queen Latifah), Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Dina (Tiffany Haddish) – ruled the school in their heyday.

Now that their years of education are behind them, they barely have time to catch up. That is, however, until arguably the most successful of the group, Ryan, takes the girls on an all-expenses-paid trip. She’s an author and self-help advocate, and has been asked to appear as the keynote speaker at Essence Fest in New Orleans, alongside her sports star husband Stewart (Mike Colter).

Whatever beef the girls may have had as teenagers is left behind, and they put their lives on hold for a weekend girls trip – just like the good old days. Sasha leaves behind her gossip blog that’s almost run itself into the ground; Lisa leaves her kids with their grandmother; and Dina, well, comes along anyway. While in New Orleans, Ryan and Stewart are offered a huge sponsorship deal by a local retailer that would set them up for life. But what happens when their relationship is put to the test?

Girls Trip highlights not only how spending so much time with your best girl friends can put a strain on your relationships, but also how much can be learned about one another during a short period of time, and how your friends can truly make you laugh when no one else can. It’s a film about empowerment and making sure you surround yourself with a squad you can count on, no matter the challenge; in this case, it just so happens to involve a lack of public toilets at a street festival. When you gotta go…

Girls Trip is undoubtedly the funniest comedy of 2017 to date, even considering the strong competition thus far. Definitely see this one with your best gal pals.
