The time has come to pick a side. Here are five reasons why you should side with #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan.
Five reasons to be on #TeamCap
While we all stood by and watched Tony Stark’s egotism and self-interest create a murder bot, Steve Rogers has always been the one to act with complete selflessness to do the right things for others. Whether that’s jumping onto a grenade to ensure everyone’s safety, or crashing the plane he’s piloting into the ocean to prevent an explosive collision course.
The Bad Boy
For those who haven’t read the comics, it may come as shock to discover Steve Rogers labelled as the new ‘bad boy’. After refusing to sign the Sokovia Accords, he goes on the run from the law in the name of freedom. So for those who fall for the ‘bad boy’ type, here’s the team you should be rooting for.
It’s not surprising to see Wanda stand with Cap after her hatred for all things Stark was revealed in Avengers: Age of Ultron. And being the most powerful enhanced being (mutant) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and X-Men Universe) brings an almost unfair advantage to this side.
The Sympathy Vote
The man out of time. The one who lost everyone he ever loved after being frozen in ice for nearly 70 years. He stole the hearts of many people with his boyish charm and obligation to do the right thing. So watching him struggle to help his dearest friend in his time of need, with the whole world turning against him, may cause sympathetic viewers to side with this soldier.
Our favourite lovable Labrador puppy turned human is back to reprise the fan-favourite character, Captain America. If you found yourself watching him during the Civil War press tour, his laugh would have been enough to convert you to #TeamCap. But only if his delightful personality hadn’t captivated you already!
Five Reasons to be on #TeamIronMan
He Was Here First
One of the oldest reasons in the book, but he was the first one to kick off the now world dominating Marvel Cinematic Universe. Without the success of Robert Downey Jr.’s stunning performance as Iron Man, it’s debatable that the Universe would have made it as far as it has.
Yes, okay, we know that Stark has been a bad boy in the past, but now he is a changed man. After discovering the harm that came from the Sokovia fiasco, Stark began a mission to right his wrong and ensure safety for the citizens. It’s incredibly difficult to not take his side when he is, for perhaps the first time, actively trying to help the citizens without an egocentric agenda.
The Funny Factor
Stark. Vision. Spider-Man. These esteemed Marvel folks have a knack for getting the biggest laughs in the cinema, and consequently they’re given some of the funniest lines in the film. For brains led by the funny bone, this is your family.
Standing on Tony’s side are two pretty damn powerful beings. One being the King and protector of Wakanda with a Vibranium (a nearly-indestructible metal in the MCU) suit, and the other being a Vibranium-laced android, powered by the Mind Stone (one of the six exceptionally powerful Infinity Stones). #TeamIronMan has some mad power on its side.
After all of the hustle and bustle with Sony over the film rights to the webslinger, he has finally joined the MCU! If you were rejoicing along with all the other Marvelites, there would be no question which side to join, just blindly follow the faith of the young man from Queens.
Did we mention you can even #PickYourSide with a custom #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan Blu-ray cover?
