Die Hard (1988)
Stars: Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman
“It’s not a Christmas film!” some claim. “But it’s set at Christmastime!” declare others… and we could go on. As it’s come equal top in STACK‘s festive movie office poll this year, we’re obviously firmly in the Jake Peralta camp – Die Hard rocks, seasonally! Hey, for starters it’s got plenty of red in it…
One of the greatest action flicks of any time, it’s about NYPD cop John McClane (Willis), who’s in the right place at just the right time to be a glass shard in the foot of a bunch of terrorists who take over the Nakatomi Plaza (actually the Fox Plaza – likely soon to be the Disney Plaza, we guess) at Christmas. Led by charismatic crook Hans Gruber (Rickman, in the role that cemented him as Best. Baddie. Ever.) they make their demands. But what are they really up to? Ho-ho oh, and how can they thwart the one man who is seriously trying to bring them down?
Yippee-ki-yay, Merry Christmas!
