We recently had the pleasure of talking with veteran actor Stacy Keach about his ’80s TV series The New Mike Hammer (coming to DVD in November), and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ask him about the 1978 Italian B-movie shocker Mountain of the Cannibal God.

“It’s one of my favourite experiences in terms of shooting a movie,” Keach says when he stops laughing at our mention of this obscure grindhouse gem. “It had the gorgeous Ursula Andress, and also the experience of shooting in Sri Lanka was extraordinary. I loved it. It’s a terrible movie, but I had a really great time.

“For my death scene, they wanted to throw a dummy off the top of a mountain. My costume had short sleeves, and the dummy was made of yellow rubber. We were running out of light, and they were saying ‘you’ve got to get the shot, throw the dummy off the mountain.’ You see it bouncing and it looks exactly what it is – a rubber dummy,” he laughs.
