There aren’t a whole lot of surprises in the BAFTA nominations for this year, but there is one very pleasant one.

While the expected – and justifiably so – suspects such as The Shape of Water (12 noms), Darkest Hour (nine noms), Three Billboards (nine noms), Dunkirk (eight noms) tend to dominate proceedings, there’s also the presence of a bear – Paddington.

While some may express surprise at what is ostensibly a kids’ film making it for not one but three noms, anybody who’s seen Paddington 2 will understand. It’s nabbed noms for ‘Outstanding British Film’ and ‘Adapted Screenplay’, while Hugh Grant – who relishes the opportunity to chew up the scenery in gloriously OTT style – nabs a ‘Supporting Actor’ nomination.

The awards ceremony is set to take place on February 19 at the Royal Albert Hall (you know, the place with all the holes*), with Joanna Lumley as host following on from Stephen Fry’s 10-year tenure.

Here are all of the nominations…

* The Royal Albert Hall were most put out upon hearing the lyrics to The Beatles’ classic A Day in the Life (or somebody there had a wicked sense of humour), sending this missive to the band…
