Donna Tartt’s 2013 best-seller and Pulitzer Prize winner The Goldfinch is heading to our screens, and a first trailer has just arrived.
The story starts with a terrorist bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where young New York boy Theodore survives but his mother doesn’t. The lad is subsequently taken in by a wealthy Upper East Side family. His one source of hope is a painting called ‘The Goldfinch’.
Directed by John Crowley (Brooklyn), the movie stars Ansel Elgort as the adult Theo, alongside Finn Wolfhard, Sarah Paulson, Luke Wilson and Nicole Kidman.
The Goldfinch opens in Australian cinemas from September 26.
