So, we now have a trailer for what was teased by another trailer, for George Miller’s upcoming fantasy drama Three Thousand Years of Longing.

From the brief snippets shown in the teaser, and the synopsis that was revealed, it sounds like one intriguing ride of a movie, and the arrival of a full-length trailer only serves to back this up.

Tilda Swinton stars as Dr Alithea Binnie. She “is an academic – content with life and a creature of reason. While in Istanbul attending a conference, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. This presents two problems. First, she doubts that he is real and second, because she is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.”

Aladdin this isn’t!

Three Thousand Years of Longing is slated for a September 1 Australian cinema release. Here’s the full trailer:
