When we think of Doug Liman nowadays, we think big – stuff like Edge of Tomorrow and The Bourne Identity. But he’s also done smaller stuff like Swingers. He dials back the bigness for The Wall, a tense war thriller with just three stars.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena are two American soldiers – Sergeant Allen ‘Eyes’ Isaac and Staff Sergeant Shane Matthews – who’ve stayed behind to help mop up after the Iraqi war. One hot day they happen upon a vehicle and several dead bodies in the middle of the desert, and so begins a standoff with a sniper who wants to play a game.
The Wall hits Aussie cinemas on August 10.
