The 2020 Golden Globe Awards have been and gone, giving us the first big star-studded awards shindig for the year.

The ceremony saw the return of Ricky Gervais as host, and as expected he was at his snarky – and often hysterical – best. Our advice? Don’t eat curry while he’s speaking, it can get messy…

To much more serious matters, in a message read by presenter Jennifer Aniston, Russell Crowe was the first to mention the horrific bushfires that we as a nation are experiencing currently, and it was foremost in the minds of others during the broadcast. These included Ellen DeGeneres, who accepted the Carol Burnett Award for Excellence in Television, Patricia Arquette, Cate Blanchett, Joaquin Phoenix and also Pierce Brosnan, who lost his home to Californian fires in 2018.

If possible, the wonderful Tom Hanks won even more hearts upon accepting the Cecil B DeMille Award for Outstanding Contributions to the World of Entertainment.

A cavalcade of Hollywood big names presented the awards. Here’s a rundown of all the winners, highlighted in the best onscreen approximation of gold that we could muster:
