Many get all up in arms at Disney’s new take on The Lion King being described as “live-action” when it’s a computer-animated feature. But, according to director Jon Favreau, there actually is some live action in it. Well, one shot.

This is the only real shot in #TheLionKing. There are 1490 rendered shots created by animators and CG artists. I slipped in one single shot that we actually photographed in Africa to see if anyone would notice. It is the first shot of the movie that begins The Circle of Life.
Yes, you’d be hard-pressed to beat real life with a computer to make such an incredible sunrise, so there is a smidgeon of reality in the movie!
But we agree, it shouldn’t be described as “live-action”.
