While Todd Phillips’ Joaquin Phoenix-starring origin tale remains in the works, Warner Bros are also giving the Suicide Squad remix of The Joker his own movie to play in.
Yes, Jared Leto will get to cut loose once again, at least according to Variety. He polarised viewers in Suicide Squad with his take on possibly DC’s numero uno baddie, so if this does indeed happen it will be interesting to see how it is received.
The new movie is currently untitled, and if it goes ahead it will apparently be one of a number of spinoffs from Suicide Squad. The first announced of these was Birds of Prey, featuring Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and yet-to-be-announced other DC women. The comics have seen everybody from Batgirl, Black Canary, Huntress, Power Girl and Vixen through to the likes of Catwoman and Poison Ivy, so we could be in for some fun.
Of course there’s also a direct sequel to Suicide Squad in the works, so prepare for a full-on cinematic DC onslaught over the coming years.
