Petula Clark’s take on the now classic pop number Downtown was upbeat and fab. Last Night in Soho star Anya Taylor-Joy takes a different, more downbeat approach to it.

It may not be as poptastic as the original, but after a rather somnambulistic start it does pick up its own beautifully orchestrated momentum. Check it out below (as well as Petula’s classic version, and another bonus bit…)

The official line for Edgar Wright’s mystery reads “A young girl, who is passionate about fashion design, mysteriously enters the 1960s, where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it seems, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences.”

Taylor-Joy and Thomasin McKenzie star, alongside Matt Smith. Terence Stamp also features, as does the incredible Diana Rigg in her last screen appearance before she passed away in September last year.

Last Night in Soho is finally set to hit Australian cinemas from November 18.
