It’s come to light that many people’s favourite Batman, Christian Bale, nearly starred in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
He was in talks to appear as a type of rogue mentor named Beckett to Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo, a role that has since been filled by Woody Harrelson.
Bale confirmed this via the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
“Yes, very tempting,” Bale told HSC’s Josh Horowitz. “I not only love the films going back to my childhood, but also have a very long relationship with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall because they did Empire of the Sun many years back. There was discussion, I hope there will be future discussions.”
So, we can take a leap and surmise that if only they’d got Christian Bale fave Christopher Nolan in to direct instead of Ron Howard after giving Phil Lord and Chris Miller the flick then the Star Wars universe could have been several shades more intense and broody.
Speaking of Howard, he’s quickly become known for letting out teases of the film, which is hitting cinemas in May, and he’s just dropped another one. With all the changes following the original directorial pair’s departure, it looks like we’ll still be seeing speeder cars in Solo: A Star Wars Story…
