The second official trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis has arrived, casting a brighter spotlight on the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and revealing much more of his story.

The trailer comes to us following the recent reveal of the film’s various poster designs, all of which have Luhrmann’s signature aesthetic – that is to say, glamorous and sparkly. The trailer picks up on that motif and runs at the camera with full gusto, giving us a greater sense of Elvis’s larger career arc.

Opening with a radio announcer’s grave warnings of the US’s descent into indecency and immorality, the trailer focuses on Elvis’s cultural impact and the hysteria which followed. Girls swoon and authorities swoop as the larger-than-life star takes to the stage amongst a sea of adoring fans. From there, it traces his early years and explores the origins of his sound, before revealing his transformation into the older, jewel-studded jumpsuit years.

Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis is sure to arrive with much fanfare, as fans of the auteur director’s own will converge with those of the late, great King himself.
