The latest horror treat from the prolific Blumhouse people is The Black Phone, which sees Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson return to his horror roots.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister director sure has conjured up something creepy, and we’ll possibly never look at star Ethan Hawke the same way ever again.

The official line is this: “Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.”

Yep, creepy.

The Black Phone is set to ring in Australian cinemas from January 27, 2022.
