Bruce Willis stars in Tarantino cohort Eli Roth’s reimagining of the 1974 Charles Bronson revenge classic, Death Wish. OK… Cue Acca Dacca and… ACTION!
Bruce plays Dr Paul Kersey – yes, he’s graduated from architect to surgeon – who feels unimaginable guilt for not being there when his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and daughter (Camila Morrone) were viciously assaulted in a home invasion. The police don’t seem to give too many damns, so what’s a man to do? Duh, purchase a gun and take the law into his own hands, vigilante-style!
It looks like a return to the Die Hard-styled action Bruce that BDAF fans adore, and that was Roth’s intention. He told Yahoo, “We wanted to bring back that great, classic Bruce Willis we all know and love and just do a fun, badass update of a revered classic. I wanted to bring Bruce back to that Fifth Element, Unbreakable, Die Hard glory and have him craft another iconic performance, and I really think he did it. I mean I really think this can be his Taken. The fun is watching him go crazy and watching someone slowly move the moral goal post.”
