It’s been a long time between clucks, but almost 20 years after Ginger and the girls first flew the coop, they’re set to return in a Chicken Run sequel.
While there’s little in the way of details beyond the fact that the geniuses at Aardman are now working on it, it’s great news for fans of the original, and a whole new generation of kids who’ve experienced the joy of Early Man and Shaun the Sheep Movie and want more squishy, plasticiney fun.
The news comes via THR, who report that it will be directed by Sam Fell, who was responsible for ParaNorman and The Tale of Despereaux, along with Aardman’s computer animated tale Flushed Away. It’s being penned by two of the original’s writers, Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell.
Chicken Run remains the most successful stop-motion feature of all time, and this follow-up will come after the next Aardman release, Shaun the Sheep in Farmageddon, which is their first ever movie sequel.
Here’s a reminder of all the fun of the henhouse…
