The first four Star Trek movies have all been remastered and are heading to 4K Ultra HD in a snazzy-looking box set.

All of them – Star Trek: The Motion Picture, The Wrath of Khan, The Search for Spock and The Voyage Home – will feature Dolby Vision encoding, and reportedly with Dolby Digital TrueHD 7.1 audio.

What is somewhat illogical is that the fifth and sixth movies of the original series aren’t included, making it all a bit, well, incomplete.

4K extras will include several commentaries, and also some isolated score tracks. The Wrath of Khan will feature both the theatrical and director’s cuts.

Star Trek: The Original 4-Movie Collection is set to head our way in September. It should be noted that we’ve pictured the overseas release – keeping the recent (and brilliant) Indiana Jones box set in mind, ours may or may not include standard Blu-rays.
