The original is a genuine sci-fi classic, so there’s a lot of buzz around director Denis Villeneuve’s forthcoming Blade Runner 2049. This new “TV spot” – which is really a new trailer – just adds to it.
More hints at the story – set 30 years after original events – are touched upon, with Officer K (Ryan Gosling) hitting Deckard (Harrison Ford) up for help with his current case, somebody not being happy about the meeting, and a peek at Jared Leto as the movie’s replicant-creating baddie, Niander Wallace.
Plus quite a bit of big-bang-boom action.
Also starring Robin Wright (TV’s House of Cards), Edward James Olmos (TV’s Battlestar Galactica and, of course, the original Blade Runner), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Ana de Armas (War Dogs), Mackenzie Davis (TV’s excellent Halt and Catch Fire) and Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Blade Runner 2049 launches in Australian cinemas on October 5.
Meanwhile, the original Blade Runner launches in 4K Ultra HD on September 20. Pre-order at JB Hi-Fi now.
