In a world where new animated movies seem to hit most every week, you have to do something special in order to stand out. Missing Link appears to fit that bill.
From Laika, the people behind Coraline, ParaNorman and the most wonderful Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link is the tale of Mr Link, a living remnant of man’s primitive ancestry. He’s quite happy to be discovered by self-ascribed myths and monsters expert Sir Lionel Frost, and sets off on an adventure to find his rellies.
Like their previous movies, as well as most of those from the Aardman people, this one is also made using stop motion animation, giving it a wholly different look to the spate of computer animated fare that’s out there (not that many of those aren’t excellent, of course).
The voice cast is also rather impressive. Zach Galifianakis gives voice to Mr Link, while Hugh Jackman, Emma Thompson, Timothy Olyphant, Zoe Saldana, Amrita Acharia, Stephen Fry, Matt Lucas and David Walliams all lend their tonsils – or the hole where they once were should they have been removed at some point, we guess.
Missing Link is currently set for an Australian cinema release on April 11, 2019.
