Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, is reported to be interested in investing in a Welsh soccer club.
He’s teamed with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Rob McElhenney to basically take over Wrexham A.F.C., a fifth division team. Elton John famously took his club Watford from fourth division to first after becoming club chairman in 1976.
Wrexham is the third oldest professional soccer club in the world, and has been owned by its fans since 2011. Apparently they’re almost unanimously onboard to listen to what Reynolds and McElhenney are offering at a specially convened meeting.
As to why they’d be interested? There may be a hint in this Twitter exchange from Reynolds:
