The Jangly Man is coming in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the latest horror outing from Guillermo del Toro.

While it’s based on a series of three compendiums of short horror stories for kids, from the vision we’ve seen so far – including that below in a new trailer – this one will make Goosebumps look like a nursery rhyme.

OK, so some nursery rhymes are pretty macabre, but we reckon you’ll get what we mean.

Mr del Toro has co-written this screen adaptation, as well as executive producing the movie. Meanwhile, The Autopsy of Jane Doe and Trollhunter director André Øvredal has called the shots on it.

The story is set in the small town of Mill Valley in late 1960s America. A group of teenagers discover a book full of scary stories that has transcended time, and these tales soon become all too real for the group.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is set to give us the creeps in Australian cinemas from September 26.
