The second trailer for the “contemporary incarnation” of Candyman gives us a new look at the much anticipated update of the classic horror tale.
Based on Clive Barker’s short story The Forbidden, which was previously adapted for the screen in 1992, the new movie has been co-written and produced by Jordan Peele (Get Out), and directed by Nia DaCosta (Little Woods).
A direct sequel to the 1992 film, the story involves a struggling artist (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) investigating the urban legend of the Candyman – a vengeful, hook-handed spirit who can be summoned by saying his name five times – in the now gentrified housing estate of Cabrini Green.
Candyman is in cinemas on August 26. Altogether now: “Candyman, Candyman, Candyman, Candyman…”
