The much-anticipated first trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s take on Frank Herbert’s influential novel Dune has arrived, and, well, wow!

Prevously hitting screens in 1984 via the mind of David Lynch and in 2000 as a four-part miniseries, with varying degrees of success depending upon who you ask, the incredible, sprawling tale has often been considered “unfilmable”. Check out the trailer below – complete with Han Zimmer’s take on Pink Floyd’s Eclipse – and see what you think.

The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Chang Chen, David Dastmalchian, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem. Not a bad little cast…

Dune is currently slated for an Australian cinema release commencing December 26.
