Back in the 1980s, the Six Million Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors, starred as a stuntman in TV series The Fall Guy. Now, Ryan Gosling looks set to take on the role in a new movie, to be filmed here in Australia.
That’s right, this has nothing to do with those roly-poly little things in the game Fall Guys (which, incidentally, is heading to a free-to-play model in June).
Set to be an action drama, director David Leitch – John Wick, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw – is on board, and Gosling is reportedly currently in talks to take on the lead role. This would see him returning to playing a Hollywood stuntman as he did in 2011’s Drive, which really helped but him on the map as a popular lead actor.
The production is set to be good for us locally too, with expectations that it’ll inject around $170 million into our economy, with financing outlays of $21.1 million federally and $10.2 million from the New South Wales government.
Here’s a reminder of the original The Fall Guy series, via the rather long, ultra-namedropping credits sequence featuring star Majors exercising his vocal abilities. Gauntlet thrown, Gosling!
