Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin will return for a sequel to 2020 disaster movie Greenland.
Butler and Baccarin will reprise their roles of John and Allison Garrity, who, having survived the extinction-level event of the first film, will leave the sanctuary in Greenland and set out across the frozen wasteland that used to be Europe in search of a new home.
Director Ric Roman Waugh and screenwriter Chris Sparling will also return for the sequel, titled Greenland: Migration, with shooting expected to begin in 2022.
“Greenland spoke to our humanity in the middle of a global catastrophic event, highlighting what people are capable of doing to one another, both good and bad, when it’s life or death,” said Waugh in a statement. “The irony is we made the first film pre-Covid and watched many situations come to reality. I’m really looking forward to the next chapter of the Garritys post the first extinction event.”
