Nash Edgerton – who gave us 2008’s cool The Square – is back in the director’s chair with Gringo, starring his brother, Joel.
He’s joined by an impressive cast, too, including Charlize Theron, David Oyelowo, Amanda Seyfried, Thandie Newton, Sharlto Copley, Harry Treadaway, Paris Jackson and Alan Ruck.
Sure, but what’s it all about?
Billed as a mix of dark comedy, action and intrigue, Gringo sees pharmaceutical exec Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo) travelling to Mexico, where he ends up at the mercy of a combination of his dodgy business colleagues back home, local drug lords and a black-ops mercenary. Harold has two choices – sink, or swim.
Add Joel Edgerton and Theron as Harold’s two dodgy bosses, medical marijuana pills, a cartel kingpin who worships The Beatles and a $5 million ransom, and we have the setup for an exciting-sounding jaunt.
Gringo is due in Aussie cinemas on March 8, 2018.
