Upcoming David Bowie story Stardust is likely hoping to echo the success of the likes of Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, but to do so it faces several challenges.
Starring English actor and folk singer Johnny Flynn as the great man himself, the story here focuses on Bowie’s first trip to the US, and the genesis of the classic Ziggy Stardust era.
Flynn appears more like a caricature of Bowie than anything, and there’s something conspicuously absent from the first trailer (below) – music. In fact, the entire movie doesn’t feature any of Bowie’s songs at all. It’s also billed as being mostly fictionalised, so we’re not really sure that we can call it a biopic, either. Topping it all off, none of Bowie’s family had anything to do with the film.
At any rate, Stardust is set to be let loose in late November.
