With this being the sixth M:I flick and all, we’re well aware by now that Tom Cruise does a whole bunch of for-real stunts in these movies that would have other actors screaming for the green screen.

We’ve already seen some of the wild stunts that Cruise does in this one, involving helicopters and tall London buildings, now comes a look behind the scenes at a HALO jump.

That stands for “High Altitude Low Open”, in regards to a skydive jump from over 25,000 feet. So, you jump high, you open your parachute low.

Luckily it appears that Tom didn’t go splat now. We guess we probably would have heard about it if he had…

We do tend to get bombarded with a lot of behind the scenes stuff in the run up to big action movie releases, but this one does offer truly interesting insight into the process, and the lengths moviemakers will go to to get that special shot that whooshes by in mere seconds onscreen.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout opens in Australia on August 2, and also stars Henry Cavill, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Sean Harris, Angela Bassett, Vanessa Kirby, Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin, Wes Bentley and Frederick Schmidt.
