The Kitchen, starring Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss, is heading our way via DC offshoot Vertigo. Despite the cast, it’s not a comedy.

A drama set in 1978, the three play housewives who are left high and dry after their mobster husbands are sent to prison by the FBI. The “family” is supposed to look after them, but it isn’t enough.

We’ve already experienced the serious sides of Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss on screen, now it’s the turn of Tiffany Haddish, who’s been mostly known for more comedic roles such as Girls Trip and Night School.

The Kitchen has been both adapted and directed by Andrea Berloff, who penned the scripts for Straight Outta Compton and Blood Father. It’s set to open in Australian cinemas on August 29.
