A remake of Clive Barker’s classic horror outing Hellraiser has been a Hollywood thing for a while now, but nothing has as yet come to fruition. This may finally be changing.

David S Goyer has been brought in to write a script. If the name sounds familiar, he also gave us the likes of Dark City, the Blade trilogy and the Christian Bale Dark Knight trilogy. He’s also penned the eagerly awaited/dreaded Terminator: Dark Fate.

According to production company Spyglass, who are behind the new take on Barker’s work, this new Hellraiser will be “a loyal, yet evolved reimagining” of the 1987 original.

Spyglass supremo Gary Barber told Variety, “Clive and I go back more than 30 years together. For generations, his brilliantly twisted and imaginative Hellraiser haunted the minds of moviegoers with its searing imagery of Pinhead. David is the perfect storyteller to continue Clive’s vision for a new theatrical version of Hellraiser.”

Here’s a trailer for the original, just to creep out your day…
