Festivals are supposed to be fun, freeing and chilled affairs, right? Judging by the trailer for the upcoming Midsommar, this one’s different.
From the director of the wonderful – and rather disturbing – Hereditary (which should have nabbed Toni Collette ALL the awards) comes this new adventure in horror drama.
It’s the tale of a young couple who holiday in an isolated Swedish village that has a whole bunch of weird traditions – and, this year, a very special festival, one that only occurs every 90 years.
Midsommar stars Florence Pugh (Fighting with My Family), Will Poulter (The Revenant) and Jack Reynor (the brilliant Sing Street).
A trailer has been released (below), and if the whole movie holds the same creepy tone then there are going to be some mighty stressed moviegoers when it releases in Australian cinemas come August 8.
