Get ready for a fourth Ghostbusters flick, which will carry on from Ghostbusters 2 as if the last movie had never happened.
It seems a sensible choice to have the son of the man who brought us the two original movies helming this one. According to Variety, Juno and Up in the Air director Jason Reitman has penned a script with Monster House director Gil Kenan.
“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a six-year-old visiting the set,” Reitman told EW. “I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans, this is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ’80s happened in the ’80s, and this is set in the present day.”
Plans are afoot to commence filming mid-year, with a mid-2020 release in Sony’s sights.
As for casting news, everything’s hush-hush as to whether any familiar faces will return – although we’d be surprised if there weren’t any cameos. A strong rumour suggests that Reitman is casting about for four young stars – two male, two female.
Now, here’s something a bit special to get everybody in the mood:
