A lot of indie-styled comedies come and go, but few boast the casting oomph of An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn.

Originally let loose at Sundance earlier in the year, the latest from The Greasy Strangler writer/director Jim Hosking is set for a wider release.

It stars Aubrey Plaza as Lulu Danger, an unhappy wife who ends up running around with a gunman (Jemaine Clement) while, obviously, avoiding her not-dead hubby (Emile Hirsch). Then there’s Craig Robinson as the titular Beverly Luff Linn, Matt Berry as the wonderfully named Rodney Von Donkensteiger and, umm, well, it just looks wonderfully weird in a kind of David Lynch meets Wes Anderson way.

While we await a wider release date, An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn will be screening at the Sydney Underground Film Festival on September 15 and 16.
