News of a new series entitled The Nevers from Buffy creator and Avengers writer/director Joss Whedon is pretty cool. Now we know who’s going to star.
The “epic science fiction drama” series is set to revolve around a group of Victorian era women who have unusual abilities. So, Outlander‘s Laura Donnelly being announced as the series lead seems rather fitting.
Her character, Amalia True, is described as “the most reckless, impulsive, emotionally damaged hero of her time. A menace to stuffy Victorian society, she would die for the cause and kill for a drink.”
Everything about The Nevers sounds exciting to us, from the fact that it’s to be directed by Whedon to the involvement of Buffy co-conspirators Jane Espenson and Doug Petrie. Then there’s that character bio – Whedon’s always been skilled at giving us strong female characters, and this brief synopsis is enough to give us great expectations.
We’ll find out for sure when HBO’s The Nevers hits our screens at an as-yet unrevealed date.
