Francis Ford Coppola has revisited his 1990 trilogy-ending The Godfather Part III to inject some new life into the polarising movie.

Now called The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone – the subtitle there was what he wanted to name the movie originally – it has been re-edited and remastered for its 30th anniversary. But there’s no word on 4K…

Claiming to represent the filmmaker’s true vision, a message from Coppola precedes the new trailer, which you can watch below:

The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone provides an entirely new experience… I created a new beginning and ending… The picture has been given new life.”

Coppola has also said of the new cut that it’s “a more appropriate conclusion to The Godfather and The Godfather: Part II.

The movie is set for a limited cinema run on December 3, followed by a Blu-ray release on December 9. Just when we thought we were out, they pull us back in…
