If you’re still scratching your head after director Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster, then here’s a distraction for you – his new flick, The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Seeing the return of The Lobster‘s Colin Farrell, and co-starring Nicole Kidman, psychological horror/thriller The Killing of a Sacred Deer scored the ‘Best Screenplay’ award at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

The story revolves around a brilliant surgeon (Farrell) who forms a familial bond with a sinister teenage boy. If we said the result were all sweetness and light then we’d be telling you fibs.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer is expected in Australian cinemas before 2018 hits. Here’s the trailer, complete with an unnerving take on Ellie Goulding’s Burn
