Writer/director Stephan Elliott is about to let loose his first film since 2011’s A Few Best Men. Set in a 1970s Aussie wonderland of suburbia, it’s Swinging Safari.
Named after Bert Kaempfert and his orchestra‘s easy listening hit of almost the same name – A Swingin’ Safari – it boasts a crazy-impressive Aussie cast, including Guy Pearce, Kylie Minogue, Radha Mitchell, Julian McMahon, Asher Keddie and Jeremy Sims. Oh, Jack Thompson is also in there, of course, as it’s law. Umm, we think.
The comedy is a satire of a typical Australian beachside neighbourhood in summer and a total nostalgia-fest, featuring all the stuff Aussie kids of the time will remember, from sand and sunburn to Kentucky Fried Chicken and beyond.
Prepare yourself for a whole lot of brown and orange when Swinging Safari hits Aussie cinemas on January 18, 2018.
