A path has been found through the Hollywood maze and a director is attached to the long-gestating Labyrinth sequel.

OK, no more rubbish maze gags, as this is serious. The 1986 fantasy epic Labyrinth is a massive childhood memory for many of us and, well, does it really need a sequel?

As usual, Hollywood doesn’t care and are proceeding regardless. To this end, Doctor Strange writer/director Scott Derrickson has signed on to call the shots, while Maggie Levin will be writing, according to Deadline.

Previous reports have suggested that the movie will carry on directly from where the first left off, which would pose at least one unfortunate casting challenge, considering that the world has lost David Bowie.

The Jim Henson Company is involved, with Jim’s kids Lisa and Brian both in on the deal in a production capacity.

Hey, at least it isn’t another remake. Stay tuned for more, and enjoy this reminder of the magical original:
