The third prequel for Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, Black Out 2022, has dropped, and they’ve gone the animation route – in spectacular style.
It was directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, who many will know for his work on such manga as Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop.
Despite being the third of the trilogy of prequels, this one is set the furthest back in time from the new movie – a mere three years on from Ridley Scott’s original. It follows on from the release of the Nexus Series 8 – a replicant with a natural lifespan.
