It worked for the likes of Beauty and the Beast, Jungle Book and Pete’s Dragon, so Disney are going to go the live action route with their animated gem Lilo & Stitch.
It gets added to the production line behind Aladdin, The Lion King and Dumbo, all of which are also in the throes of getting the reality treatment.
There’s little other detail in the report from THR, but we’re intrigued as to how the story would play out in the real world.
If you missed it, Lilo & Stitch was the tale of a little Hawaiian girl and her newly-acquired “dog” Stitch, who’s actually an alien being that’s been programmed for destruction. He subsequently finds out the meaning of family – and Elvis impersonation!
Disney really are going back through their vaults for live action remakes. We wonder when Steamboat Willy will get the call-up?
